A few months ago, I was looking for more in my life. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what was missing, but I knew that something was.
I grew up working with kids, and not just working with them, but doing what I could in my community to make the world better and easier for them. Then I graduated high school and went away to college, and life got crazy. I moved back home almost a year ago now and, with a lot of hard work, life got less and less crazy. Until I reached a point where I knew I was ready to give again and that if I wanted my life to feel full, needed to.
I found Lynn and Quady, and Pinwheel Place, through my mom. I got Lynn’s email from her and threw myself out there. It was scary, and I’m sure for them too- to let someone they didn’t know step into a role that none of us could define. But I wanted to do everything I could, and the more I learned, the more I realized how much there is to do.
It absolutely blew my mind- as we pick this blog up again, we’re going to feature all of the different parts of running a nonprofit so that we can blow your mind too- but it was crazy to me (still is!) to learn how much there truly is to do, and how much Lynn and Quady are doing on their own. Now don’t get me wrong- the community has done amazing things for Pinwheel Place so far, but so much falls to Lynn and Quady. The craziest part? They do it all with complete dedication and determination, on top of their jobs and everything else life throws at us to juggle. Pinwheel’s mission is just that important to them.
And their passion is contagious.
Within a week of getting involved, I was coming to Lynn and Quady with big ideas and so much excitement I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a little overwhelming. But I was overwhelmed by the potential for good that I could be doing with Pinwheel, and all the things Pinwheel Place can be for our community once more people realize who we are and what we’re doing. So, during hours of sorting through toy and clothes donations, manning tables at volunteering events, and bugging Lynn and Quady for More Work! Give me More! I began to take on our social media.
I’ve never been trained in media management, but social media is one of my passions and I felt this was one thing I could take off of our tireless founders/directors shoulders and do well. It’s been a learning curve for all of us, I can’t even imagine how difficult it was to hand over something so preciously important, but they did it, and I am honored and pumped to be taking on the challenge!
Social media, in this day and age, is a vitally important part of outreach for charities- it is precious and a large responsibility, because our mission is precious and a HUGE responsibility. But I know that with hard work I can make a difference and help spread our message of preventing child abuse and neglect throughout New Jersey.

We want to grow Pinwheel Place and help as many children in New Jersey as we can, and we can’t do that without you.
