We Can Help

We Can Help

Asking for help is a sign of strength! Only parents who love their children find the courage to ask for help.
Pinwheel Place invites families to come to us as they are, share their stories and trust that we will work together to make things better. We are here to be a safe haven to families in crisis.  What do we mean when we say crisis? That is defined by you the family but it generally means anything that keeps you from being the parent you need to be at the time. Examples would be:
  • If you do not have a safe place for your child while you resolve personal problems
  • If you or a member of your family has a medical emergency or you are expecting the birth of a child and do not have a safe place for your child
  • If your life’s problems are becoming unbearable and you are taking them out on your child, or you feel like you might lose control
  • If you have a family or relationship problem in which safety is a concern
  • If you have a medical or mental health situation
  • If you are having housing problems
  • If you need to enter drug or alcohol treatment
All services provided by Pinwheel Place are confidential and voluntary, meaning you decide if we’re the right fit for you. We will not call the state if you opt to use us, however, please know that all staff are mandated reporters and must call Child Protection and Permanency if they suspect child abuse or neglect. All services are free of charge. All requests for child care are accepted as space and need allow. If space is available, we will schedule a time for you to bring your children to Pinwheel Place.
During our intake process, we will ask for information about your child(ren) so that we can provide the best care during their stay with us.  This will include a brief medical history, special dietary needs, and any other special needs your children might have i.e. sleeping patterns, eating patterns, allergies, and any other information you might want to share to make your child's stay more comfortable. Once we finish the intake process, trained houseparents or volunteers will give your child the nurturing care that will make their experience with us a positive one. While your children reside at Pinwheel Place, they are cared for by safe and loving caregivers; but those caregivers are still not their family. You will be able to visit with your children, or talk to them on the phone, and we reassure them that you love them very much and can’t wait to see them again!  It is our goal that staying with us will have a lasting and positive impact on their growth and development and sense of security.
